Rolls-Royce Motor Cars presents Phantom “Inspired by Cinque Terre” – an exquisite, one-of-one Bespoke Motor Car that captures all the charm and fascinating viticultural history of the fabled Italian Riviera.
Cinque Terre, or ‘Five Lands in Italian,’ is located on the rugged coasts of Liguria. The centuries-old fishing towns of Monterosso Vernazza Corniglia Manarola Riomaggiore and Riomaggiore, perched on the cliffside, are famous internationally for their steeply terraced vineyards that overlook the Mediterranean.
This exceptional motorcar is adorned with intricate Bespoke details that celebrate the stunning vineyards of the area. The exterior is finished with a rich, deep Ligurian Blue. A hand-applied double Coachline in Navy Blue & Jasmine completes the design.
On the rear doors, elegant grape-branch embroidering is added to the timeless interior. It combines Grace White, Navy Blue, and Jasmine leathers with Jasmine accents. Each piece is made up of 9,215 stitches using two different techniques. The satin stitch is used to embroider the grapes. Threads are aligned to match the angle of light hitting the surface. This gives each grape a realistic tone and lustrous appearance. The Bespoke Collective used a flatter tatami for the grape leaves, providing a textural contrast that enhances the tactile quality of the embroidery.
Both picnic tables are made of stainless steel with gold plating and feature an intricate inlay that captures the grapes motif. First, the surfaces were painted Milori Blue and then given a subtle shimmer to provide them with depth and vibrancy. The inlays are then applied precisely by hand and sealed with clear lacquer. The surface was then hand-polished and sanded to produce a seamless, smooth finish.
The Bespoke Headliner with Starlight is enhanced by a map embroidered in 14,338 stitches. Cinque Terre is represented by five glowing stars that were placed precisely and manually at the edge. The Bespoke Collective spent more than a year perfecting the design. They went through many iterations in order to find the ideal line weight. It had to be wide enough for the thread to sparkle but delicate sufficient to show Italy’s outline perfectly.
The Gallery, located within the expansive fascia of the car, houses a stunning, specially commissioned artwork that captures the vibrant colors, architecture, and character of the Cinque Terre. The composition, which represents an imagined amalgamation of elements of all five cliffside towns, was sketched on a computer and then airbrushed using water-based paints to achieve a fine level of detail. It was finished with several coats of clear varnish. The focal points of the painting are placed in the Gallery so that all motor car occupants can easily admire their intricate details.
The glove compartment contains a silver debossing of the five villages.
Phantom ‘Inspired By Cinque Terre’ is now part of the collection of the client who commissioned it. It is a one-of-one original commission that will never be reproduced.
