It’s time to revisit the question that has been asked a lot: Which SUV is the best under Rs 20 lakhs? Volkswagen will launch the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition tomorrow in India. The Trail Edition is one of the special editions Volkswagen announced for both the Taigun line-up and Virtus. Our dealer sources indicate that the Trail Edition will cost about Rs 30,000 more than the GT trim it will be based upon.
The Taigun Trail Edition will be limited and is a cosmetic upgrade to keep the model current in light of new competition.
- Taigun Trail Edition based on GT trim second from the top
- Roof rails and special decals are added to give the car a rugged look
- Only available with the 1.5 TSI Turbo-petrol
Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition exterior, interior
Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition gets special decals for the rear fenders and doors, as well as a functional roof rack to give it a more outdoor-like feel. The Trail Edition also comes with new 17-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and a Trail badge on the rear gate. Trail Edition will likely be available in Carbon Steel Grey, Deep Black Pearl, and Candy White exterior colors.
The only interior changes will be the leatherette seat upholstery. It will feature red contrast stitching and the word “Trail” embossed onto the seats. The GT Plus trim could come with metal foot pedals.
The equipment list will be unchanged. It will have features such as a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless charging and connectivity, automatic headlamps, and TPMS. The GT Plus trim will have a few more features, including a sunroof and heated front seats. It also has cruise control, a digital instrument cluster, and full LED headlamps.
Volkswagen Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition powertrain
The 1.5-litre TSI petrol motor with 150hp and 250Nm will be the only engine available for the Taigun GT Trail Edition. It is likely to come in both manual 6-speed and DCT 7-speed gearboxes.
Volkswagen also showed off a Sport Edition of its Taigun model, which featured sporty cosmetic upgrades. This special edition model will also be launched in the next few months.
Linger in Champagne
Book a trainline ticket for the high-speed TGV to Reims (with WiFi). It’s only 45 minutes away. Reims is one of France’s Top French Cities, meaning that it is a shining example of joie-de-vivre. Rent a car at the Reims station (book in advance for automatic transmission rentals). If you don’t have a car, it isn’t easy to travel around the Champagne region. Taxis are also not readily available. You can hire iGoVE to chauffeur you around Champagne in a Tesla if you don’t feel like driving (because of the booze, obviously). Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Reims Cathedral. From 1027 to 1825, French kings were crowned in this cathedral.
Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa is your Champagne home base. This 49-room hotel opened just this summer. Royal Champagne, located in Champillon, is in a perfect location between Reims and Epernay. This is where you will find many of the tours and tastings. You’ll be unable to leave the Relais & Chateaux Hotel, which is so comfortable. The sommelier will help you choose from 200 bottles of champagne at the hotel bar. You can also enjoy the view of rolling vineyards in the Montagne de Reims while relaxing by the infinity pool. Royal Champagne hired Jean-Denis Rieubland to oversee the hotel’s culinary program, which includes Le Royal – a fine-dining restaurant decorated with portraits depicting the most significant women in Napoleon Bonaparte’s life.
